Wilbur Burton Johnson, age 83, of Glencoe, IL died Sunday,

October 24, 2004.  He is survived by his brother Wendell (Carol) of Wheaton; his children: David (Jeri) of Buffalo Grove; Jeffery (Blair) of Ashland, Oregon; John (Jody) of Winnetka; his grandchildren: Chelsea, Caitlin, Evan, Daren, Clay, Tanner, Dana, Scout and Jenna.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jaynell and his daughter Diane Hilgers of Barrington. Wilbur was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from North Side High School there.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwesten University and was a Phil Delta Theta fraternity member.  A veteran of WWII, he served as a Naval Officer in the Phillipines from 1943 to 1946.  After the war he was a successful advertising executive for Borg-Warner, Oscar Mayer, Mead Johnson, Hammond Organ, Baldwin Piano, and Double-Cola. He also worked as an advertising consultant; then, later worked for Armstrong Medical Industries, and Sears.  An avid photographer, Wilbur also enjoyed the outdoors and nature study.  He also loved woodworking and woodcarving.  He was an avid tennis player.  Family and friends will meet for a memorial service at Heller Nature Center, 2821 Ridge Road, Highland Park on Saturday, Oct 30 at 10:30 a.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to Dana and Jenna Hilgers Education Fund, Barrington Bank and Trust, 201 South Hough St., Barrington, IL 60010 or Evanston North Shore Bird Club, P.O.
